About the Conference

Friday, March 9, 2018, 9:00AM-6:00PM  (Elebash Recital Hall)

What was it like to feel emotions in the early modern world, and how might reconstructing affective experience alter our current critical landscapes? This conference puts affect theory and history of emotion in conversation with embodiment, performance history, philology, astrology, and demonology in order to explore some of the new intellectual possibilities set into motion by recent approaches to early modern emotion. Speakers will include Amanda Bailey (U Maryland), Patricia Cahill (Emory), Katharine A. Craik (Oxford Brookes), Mary Floyd-Wilson (UNC Chapel Hill), and Benedict S. Robinson (Stony Brook).
